Mae Taylor Moss, "The Emotionally Intelligent Nurse Leader"
Jossey-Bass | ISBN 078795988X | 2004 Year | PDF | 1,07 Mb | 352 Pages
“ The Emotionally Intelligent Nurse Leader offers nurse managers, health care
leaders, and emerging leaders a useful guide for identifying, using, and
regulating their emotions (emotional intelligence). As the author clearly
demonstrates, harnessing the power of emotional intelligence can transform the
work environment and the nursing profession as a whole. This important resource
combines a strong theoretical base with illustrative case examples and practical
insights. Every day, nurse leaders must resolve conflict, form alliances, and
coach others in a complicated health care environment. Each chapter in this book
is designed to help these professionals identify, understand, and hone the
skills of emotional intelligence--skills that will bolster the nurse
professional’s ability to lead effectively. The Emotionally Intelligent Nurse
Leader explores how to invent an emotionally sensitive workplace culture, upend
the hierarchy?making leaders more responsive and line employees more
responsible?and visualize and create an emotionally intelligent workplace.

Wendy S. Enelow, Louise M. Kursmark, "Expert Resumes For Teachers And Educators"
(2nd edition)
Jist Publishing | ISBN 1593571267 | 2005 Year | PDF | 9,05 Mb | 290 Pages
“ I got this book along with several other resume books for teachers from the
library. I thought this book was the best of all of them. It is filled with
actual award-winning resumes by real teachers. The authors point out the special
features and strengths of each resume. What I especially liked is that they
focus on the visual style and formatting of a resume along with the content.
Using the examples and tips in this book, I re-formatted my resume to showcase
my strengths and be easier to read. I had sent my old resume to someone in
response to a teaching job he had, but I never heard from him. Still hoping to
get in at this school district, I sent my new and improved resume to a different
person, hoping she might have some openings instead. Well, she gave a copy of my
new resume to the first person and he called me the same day for an interview!!
I know it sounds like a cliche, but it really happened. My new resume got me in
the door, and I got the job!! I highly recommend this book!

Dominique Guin (Editor), Kenneth Ruthven (Editor), Luc Trouche (Editor), "The
Didactical Challenge of Symbolic Calculators: Turning a Computational Device
into a Mathematical Instrument"
Springer | ISBN 0387231587 | 2004 Year | PDF | 5,02 Mb | 305 Pages
“ While computational technologies are transforming the professional practice of
mathematics, as yet they have had little impact on school mathematics. This
pioneering text develops a theorized analysis of why this is and what can be
done to address it. It examines the particular case of symbolic calculators
(equipped with computer algebra systems) in secondary education. Drawing on a
substantial program of French innovation and research, as well as closely
related studies from Australia and the Netherlands, it provides rich
illustrations of the many aspects of technology integration, and of the ways in
which these are shaped at different levels of the educational institution. This
pioneering text develops a theorized analysis of why this is and what can be

Mark Stamp, "Information Security: Principles and Practice"
Wiley-Interscience | ISBN 0471738484 | October 28, 2005 Year | PDF | 4,39 Mb |
416 Pages
“ Your expert guide to information security As businesses and consumers become
more dependent on complex multinational information systems, the need to
understand and devise sound information security systems has never been greater.
This title takes a practical approach to information security by focusing on
real-world examples. While not sidestepping the theory, the emphasis is on
developing the skills and knowledge that security and information technology
students and professionals need to face their challenges. The book is organized
around four major themes: Cryptography: classic cryptosystems, symmetric key
cryptography, public key cryptography, hash functions, random numbers,
information hiding, and cryptanalysis Access control: authentication and
authorization, password-based security, ACLs and capabilities, multilevel and
multilateral security, covert channels and inference control, BLP and Biba's
models, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems Protocols: simple
authentication protocols, session keys, perfect forward secrecy, timestamps,
SSL, IPSec, Kerberos, and GSM Software: flaws and malware, buffer overflows,
viruses and worms, software reverse engineering, digital rights management,
secure software development, and operating systems security Additional features
include numerous figures and tables to illustrate and clarify complex topics, as
well as problems-ranging from basic to challenging-to help readers apply their
newly developed skills. A solutions manual and a set of classroom-tested
PowerPoint(r) slides will assist instructors in their course development.
Students and professors in information technology, computer science, and
engineering, and professionals working in the field will find this reference
most useful to solve their information security issues.

Christopher P. Cannon (Editor), Patrick T. O'Gara (Editor), "Critical Pathways
in Cardiology"
Lippincott Williams & Wilkins | ISBN 0781726212 | 2001 Year | PDB | 2,37 Mb |
260 Pages
“ Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA. Using an evidence-based approach, this
resource explains the how and why behind critical pathways, with special
emphasis on their practical application in cardiology. Numerous tables,
checklists, and algorithms are included.
The past 10 to 15 years have witnessed remarkable progress in the field of
cardiology. The evidence that has emerged on effective new therapies for several
important cardiovascular diseases is quite impressive. For example, the
treatment of acute myocardial infarction 15 years ago consisted of
nitroglycerin, beta-blockers, and morphine. Now patients also receive
fibrinolytic therapy, aspirin, heparin, ACE inhibitors, statins, and, in some
cases, glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors. Indeed, we are in an era when each year
there are new therapies and approaches to the management of patients with every
cardiac condition.
How do busy clinicians keep up with the latest advances and ensure that their
patients receive current state-of-the-art therapy? One approach has been the
development and use of critical pathways. These are standardized documents or
computer order sets that incorporate new therapies and simultaneously attempt to
streamline treatment in order to make it more cost-effective. Critical pathways
