Anand Deveriya, "Network Administrators Survival Guide"
Cisco Press | ISBN 1587052113 | September 22, 2005 Year | CHM | 12,19 Mb | 552
Pages
The all-in-one practical guide to supporting your Cisco network
Provides detailed tips for using freeware and open-source tools readily
available from the Internet, including the reasons behind choosing a particular
tool
Refer to a single source for common Cisco network administration issues
Dedicated section for network security aids administrators in effectively
dealing with security issues
Deploy fully functional RADIUS and TACACS+ for servers for controlling access
to Cisco devices
Deploy Linux- and Windows-based syslog servers to centrally collect syslog
information generated by Cisco devices
Deploy Linux- and Windows-based network monitoring systems to monitor
interface traffic through Cisco devices including routers, switches, VPN
concentrators, and Cisco PIX® firewalls
Use the trending feature of network monitoring systems for long-term network
analysis and capacity planning
Automatically detect and report configuration changes on Cisco IOS® Software-
based devices and Cisco PIX firewalls
Deploy Cisco-based VPNs in mixed environments using Linux- and Windows-based
VPN servers
Network Administrators Survival Guide solves many common network administration
problems by providing administrators with an all-in-one practical guide to
supporting Cisco® networks using freeware tools. It is a single reference source
that explains particular issues, their significance for administrators, and the
installation and configuration process for the tools. The solutions are Cisco
centric and provide detail not available in generic online information. Network
Administrators Survival Guide emphasizes solutions for network managers and
administrators of small to medium-sized businesses and enterprises.
Each chapter is broadly based on a network administration function, starting
with an overview of the topic, followed by the methodology involved to
accomplish that function. This includes the tools available, why they are the
right choice, and their installation, configuration, and usage methods. For any
given function, Network Administrators Survival Guide covers both Windows- and
Linux-based tools as appropriate. Most of the Windows-based tools offer the
advantage of GUI for ease of use, whereas the Linux-based tools are command-line
based and can be used in automated scripts. Both are significant for network
administrators.
Based on author Anand Deveriyas extensive field experience, this practical
guide to maintaining Cisco networks will save you significant time and money.
Any network administratorbeginner or advancedwill find this book useful. The
solutions to practical aspects of network administration make Network
Administrators Survival Guide a must-have reference for supporting your Cisco
network.

A.Peres, "Quantum Theory: Concepts and Methods"
Kluwer Academic Publishers | ISBN 0792336321 | 2002 Year | PDF | 2,93 Mb | 464
Pages
This book will be useful to anyone who wants to understand the use of quantum
theory for the description of physical processes. It is a graduate level text,
ideal for independent study, and includes numerous figures, exercises,
bibliographical references, and even some computer programs. The first chapters
introduce formal tools: the mathematics are precise, but not excessively
abstract. The physical interpretation too is rigorous. It makes no use of the
uncertainty principle of other ill-defined notions. The central part of the book
is devoted to Bell's theorem and to the Kochen-Specker theorem. It is here that
quantum phenomena depart most radically from classical physics. There has
recently been considerable progress on these issues, and the latest developments
have been included. The final chapters discuss further topics of current
research: spacetime symmetries, quantum thermodynamics and information theory,
semiclassical methods, irreversibility, quantum chaos, and especially the
measuring process. In particular, it is shown how modern techniques allow the
extraction of more information from a physical system than traditional
measurement methods. For physicists, mathematicians and philosophers of science
with an interest in the applications and foundations of quantum theory. The
volume is suitable as a supplementary graduate textbook.

M.Ram Murty, Jody Esmonde, "Problems in Algebraic Number Theory" (2nd edition)
Springer | ISBN 0387221824 | 2004 Year | DjVu | 2,2 Mb | 352 Pages
Asking how one does mathematical research is like asking how a composer
creates a masterpiece. No one really knows. However, it is a recognized fact
that problem solving plays an important role in training the mind of a
researcher. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the ability to do
mathematical research lies essentially asking "well-posed" questions. The
approach taken by the authors in Problems in Algebraic Number Theory is based on
the principle that questions focus and orient the mind. The book is a collection
of about 500 problems in algebraic number theory, systematically arranged to
reveal ideas and concepts in the evolution of the subject. While some problems
are easy and straightforward, others are more difficult. For this new edition
the authors added a chapter and revised several sections. The text is suitable
for a first course in algebraic number theory with minimal supervision by the
instructor. The exposition facilitates independent study, and students having
taken a basic course in calculus, linear algebra, and abstract algebra will find
these problems interesting and challenging. For the same reasons, it is ideal
for non-specialists in acquiring a quick introduction to the subject.

Vaclav Smil, "The Earth's Biosphere: Evolution, Dynamics, and Change"
The MIT Press | ISBN 0262692988 | 2003 Year | DjVu | 5,65 Mb | 356 Pages
Smil, in a presentation marked by balance and clarity, synthesizes the field
of science dealing with the biosphere. It is an interdisciplinary one, combining
organic chemistry, geology, solar physics, microbiology, zoology, and more.
Whatever characteristics the biosphere displays on a global scale depend on
living matter's fundamental chemistry, so Smil diagrams the structural backbone
of cells--molecules such as cellulose or DNA. Moving next through types of
metabolism, such as the ATP cycle, Smil explains the resultant chemical products
and how they become fixed or cycled through the ground, water, or atmosphere.
Addressing concerns about human influences on the biosphere, Smil describes
them, but he is a scientist to the core (at the University of Manitoba) and is
hesitant to proclaim doom as the certain outcome. That scientific humility only
enhances Smil's work. A superior, comprehensive survey.

Edward O. Price, "Animal Domestication and Behavior"
CABI Publishing | ISBN 0851995977 | 2003 Year | DjVu | 3,79 Mb | 297 Pages
This book synthesizes existing knowledge of the process of domestication and
how domestication has affected the behavior of captive wild and domesticated
animals, including both farm, zoo and companion animals. Three broad themes are
addressed: Genetic contributions to the process of domestication; experimental
contributions to the process of domestication; and the process of feralization
(i.e. the adaptation of domesticated animals when returned to their natural
habitat). Written by a world authority on the subject, this book makes a highly
original contribution to the literature
